Leave it to FFG to produce an errata that ADDS an ambiguity to a game. I could have sworn I saw an answer to this somewhere, but I just prowled the current rulebook and FAQ and didn't find it, so here I am asking:
When a monster appears during resolving Midnight effects - during which it isn't any player's turn anymore - and the players can't come to an agreement as to where it should go (assuming there are multiple possibilities for it), who gets final say on where it ends up?
Now, if we were playing pre-errata, this is a non-issue: the player who just finished their turn would get final say, as it IS still their turn. I personally would tend toward retaining this behavior if for no other reason than that it's how it USED to work (and that FFG probably was too myopic to realize they broke it). However, the current rules clearly state that when Midnight is being resolved, the turn of the player for whom the bell tolled is OVER, so that if anyone has a valid claim to being the active player, it's most likely the player who would go NEXT.
The rulebook really
goes out of its way to make it clear that it's nobody's turn while resolving Midnight, but the monster placement rules all specify decisions are made by "the player", which is assuming (and clearly wrongly) that there always is one.
Thoughts? (I wouldn't hold my breath on an official response.)
